Learning Jungle programs combine a child-centred teaching approach with an advanced delivery method to create the optimal learning environment for children to excel.

Teaching Approach

Research shows that the first five years of a child’s life has a strong impact on their learning ability for all the years to follow. Children absorb information quickly, thus, it is essential to develop the fundamental building blocks at an early age to set the foundation for their future.

Our play-based learning programs are a process of observing, documenting, studying, and discussing children’s experiences with families as a basis for lesson planning. Our teachers closely monitor each child to ensure ‘whole child development’, consisting of skills in five domains: social, emotional, language, cognitive and physical. Once children graduate to pre-school and beyond, they are introduced to Mathematics, Social Sciences, English and other languages.

Lesson plans and activities are selected by our teachers based on observations of a child’s development. In turn, this promotes a flexible curriculum that is more individualized for each child.

Delivery Method

Our teachers monitor a child’s development by collecting and documenting each day’s events, activities and projects. These experiences are published to a child’s online portfolio and serve as a guide for teachers to determine developmentally appropriate activities.

Our teachers encourage parents to participate by viewing their child’s achievements on the Learning Jungle Mobile App. This process is invaluable as it enhances parents’ ability to connect with their children at home by encouraging them to share and communicate what they learned during the day.

The Learning Jungle program delivery is based upon three principles:

Individualized Development

Education is personalized for each child by matching their current developmental progress and the best learning approach most suited for their pace and style.

Collaborative Observations

Encouraging evaluation and verification from both teachers and parents throughout the duration of their program.

Measurable Results

Evaluation through quantitative and qualitative results giving parents a clear understanding of their child’s progress, achievement and focus for future development.

(18 months – 3 years)

At this age, toddlers become more independent and we encourage their development with a carefully designed program of activities largely through play. Learning Jungle offers a balanced program that allows children to explore, be engaged and develop fine motor, gross motor and cognitive skills. Educators observe and track developmental progress in all five domains to plan activities for each individual toddler.

The toddler environment is set up in a spacious area to accommodate for lots of activity and movement. Educators delight in the opportunity to be silly, sing, dance, read, play, and laugh with toddlers. Outdoor play and exploration are also an important part of a toddler’s day to exercise large muscles and burn off energy.

(3 – 5 years)

At this age, children are more relaxed and cooperative with the advantage of easily engaging, communicating and reasoning with them. Pre-Nursery/Nursery children enjoy a full day program with activities that encourages them to be active, socialize with their peers, enhance motor and cognitive skills and be creative.

The classroom is warm and welcoming with lots of opportunity for interaction with educators and other children. Periodically, learning also takes place outside of the Centre. At Learning Jungle School, children enjoy a variety of trips and outings to the Library, local Fire Station, Zoo and other places of interest, in which parents are also encouraged to participate.

(5 – 6 years)

At this stage of a child’s life, they are boisterous, chatty, self-confident and capable; and are growing increasingly more independent. Educators make every effort to connect with each child and get to know and appreciate them on a personal level.

The rooms are filled with learning areas for each developmental domain including floor play, sensory, science, art, blocks, dramatic play to name a few. Children are encouraged to learn about academics, like language, math, science, etc. through a combination of interactive pencil and paper tasks and hands-on activities. Outdoor programming includes fun group planned activities to exercise the body and mind and ample free time to play and explore.

“Since enrolling [our daughter] in the daycare, we have noticed that she has grown tremendously. Socially, she has made many new friends and has learned how to interact positively with other adults and children. Previously, she had been quite shy.”
