Number Match

Math & Science

4-6 years

Numbers and knowledge. This activity is a great way for your child to practice their number sense skills and develop a better understanding of the relationship between numbers and quantities.

Materials

  • Large piece of paper or cardboard
  • Sticky notes
  • Coloured pens
  • Masking tape

Directions

Let your child help to create this activity.

  1. Write the numbers 1 through 10 in large font across the paper and then tape to the wall.
  2. Use sticky notes to write out matching values using words or dots. For example, 5 = Five OR ● ● ● ● ●.
  3. Let your child match the sticky note value (word/dots) to the corresponding number on the paper.

Adaption

For older children, write out simple math equations on the sticky notes, e.g. 3 + 2 =…

Let your child match the sticky note equation to the corresponding (answer) number on the paper.

At Learning Jungle, we believe all children are capable, confident and full of potential. Co-learning empowers your child to take initiative. Encouraging child participation and engaging in open-ended, thought-provoking conversation throughout play is important for healthy child development.

Conversations with your child

  • What matches with the number 5?
  • Can you match all the numbers?
  • Try to count the dots
  • How fast can you match all the numbers?
